Which Bureaucrat do You Want Making Your Health Care Decisions?

I sent the following to my Congressman, Brett Guthrie. It needs saying that he is my congressman only in the sense that he is the elected representative for the district in which I reside and is supposed to represent me. Based on the performance of his predecessor, to whom he was an aide, I don't anticipate that he will represent me in the way I'd prefer to be represented. So far, I'm of the opinion that he will not care for the interests of the majority of the people who reside in this district. Hopefully, he will prove me wrong.

I just read your "op-ed" on healthcare and am curious about your quotation in the first paragraph: "Being a two-time cancer survivor, and possibly having it for a third time, I’m very concerned about health care reform. I know money is tight for everyone right now, but I’m worried about new taxes and being forced to accept government-run health care. I just really think if we have less government in health care, we would be better off.”

Questions arise. Do you think this person would like us to repeal Medicare and eliminate VA funding? Don't you think this person might be more in danger of reaching his/her lifetime limit than of having care interfered with by a government bureaucracy? Do you think this person is regurgitating propaganda he/she heard all day long on WKCT? Do you really think the people suffering are the middle class? What about the 47 million who have no health insurance? How do you like YOUR single payer insurance plan? Wouldn't it be nice if all Americans could have one half that good?

Clearly, Republicans have a good propaganda operation. What happens, though, when people start to see through all this fiction and demand more fairness, greater accountability, and less BS? Oh, wait. That has already started to happen. There was an election last November. You need to decide if you believe elections matter and reflect the wishes of the electorate or if the tired rhetoric your party is trying to live on will be resurgent. I urge you to reflect on what all your constituents need and rise above the strictures of your irrelevant, pedantic party.

My message to Brett did not include this final question: Which Bureaucrat do You Want Making Your Health Care Decisions-a government bureaucrat or a corporate bureaucrat? My answer: Maybe the government guy/gal might have more concern for my health than the insurance company guy/gal, whose main concern is the company's profit margin.

I also forgot to ask Brett if he believes the President was born in the United States of America.
